The 2nd Annual Kelly Guffey Race to Remember 5k was another overwhelming success. At 8:00 a.m., on Saturday, March 29th, approximately 130 runners and walkers took off on the newly designed, United States Track and Field certified 3.1 mile course looping through the historic town of Dallas , NC. The family of Kelly Guffey feels the community has truly embraced this event and we are grateful for the support of each and every person who helped make this event possible. We are warmly touched by each person who contributed their time, talent, spirit, and energy and we gratefully and graciously thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We would like to acknowledge the following: The local community and local businesses, all sponsors of the race, the Town of Dallas, First United Methodist Church of Dallas, Dallas Police Department, Dallas Volunteer Fire Department, Dallas Rescue Squad, Concord Methodist Church in Bessemer City, numerous volunteers from the local community, student volunteers from North Gaston High School, and finally the participants: the runners and walkers. The Kelly Guffey Race to Remember is an annual event in Dallas, NC, which will be held at the end of March each year. We are currently firming up a date for 2009. We would like to invite everyone back next year and encourage you to periodically check the website throughout the upcoming year for information on event planning and ways to volunteer your time and/or make financial contributions.
