Remember Kelly, Inc. is a non-profit organization established in
2006 as a memorial honoring the life of Kelly Diane Guffey, a 32 year old woman
with a loving spirit and an infectious smile who lost a courageous three year
battle to carcinoid cancer.
As a pediatric nurse, Kelly created a legacy of hope by caring for children less
fortunate than she and was dedicated to providing a better quality of life to
all she embraced. Kelly’s spirit embodied a love of life, a compassion for
tolerance and understanding and an appreciation of the joy and beauty of life’s
bounty.
The purpose of Remember Kelly, Inc. is to provide funds to support
a scholarship which will encourage enrollment and retention of qualified nursing
education students. As a health care provider, Kelly realized the need for
dedicated nurses and the importance of securing funds to ensure educational
opportunities for licensure in the nursing profession.
Remember Kelly, Inc. will award an annual $500 scholarship to
assist a young male or female student interested in a career in nursing. This
scholarship is available to a worthy graduate of North Gaston High School in
Dallas, North Carolina.
It was only a sunny smile,
And little it cost in the giving;
But it scattered the night
Like morning light,
And made the day worth living.
